Classwork

I teach all core subjects to 3B students.  This includes Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Religion, and Art. Specialist teachers provide instruction in Music, Digital Technology, Physical Education, Spanish, and Library.   Check out the Learning page for details about each subject taught in 3B.

Homework

Students are responsible to write their homework in their daily planner.  Refer to the planner for details.  Please note, however, that some assignments can be expected each week.  On average, students have 30 minutes of homework each night.  Students are expected to read and log 20 minutes of leisure reading each day, in addition to assigned homework.
Weekly Memorization of Poetry, Prayer, or Scripture selection:  recitation required every Friday
Math: practice problems every night
Social Studies OR Science:  weekly writing assignment
Reading:  20 minutes each day and weekly reading comprehension activity
Reading Record Sheet:  due every Friday
Spelling Tests:  held every Friday unless otherwise informed
Current Events:  each child assigned one report monthly (see Assignments & Resources page for homework helper link)

A bit about Mrs. Alana Busekrus....

I am a mother of four daughters and a firm believer that parents are the primary educators of their children.  As your child's third grade teacher, I support your efforts to help your child reach his or her potential.   I believe all children---like all humans-- are uniquely gifted, each possessing special strengths that can be shared with others, in addition to areas of weakness that need improvement.   In my classroom I strive to provide an environment in which children grow to love learning.   In 3B students learn  academic subjects in addition to learning spiritual, social, and emotional concepts that enrich the lives of self and others.
